What’s Your “More”?

This summer our family marked 15 years of service in missions ministry. That was a humbling number for me. I thought by now we should be some sort of experts in church-planting and cross-cultural ministry. Reality has revealed the adage to be true that the more you know, the more you know you don’t know. However, I can attest to this surety: God has never forsaken us, and has provided in every way over and above in ways we neither expected nor deserved.

Concurrently, the further along this path we tread, the more we admonish ourselves to reflect more deeply and think through with greater care the steps we are taking. We can’t absorb enough from those in the next stages of life to sate our desire for fuller wisdom.

It seems we keep coming back to the challenging indictment to live courageously. The life we live is maddeningly fast and short and we want it to be useful in a substantial way to our creator. Yet, so many dreams and aspirations that are reflections or echoes of God’s unique call on our lives get shelved and forgotten in the pragmatism and necessity of everyday life. As the years pass the “get to it later” section on our figurative shelf only grows.

Our hope is that each and every year is met with the sustaining support of God’s people in our life and ministry. We also hope that we are serving in such a way that God’s people are inspired to live more. Seeing you and hearing of the ways God is moving in you and through you connects us to richer purposes and appreciation for the broader perspective of His work and Kingdom. It connects us to more

We send out this request on this Giving Tuesday, to partner with the ministry happening in Czech Republic as the Spirit leads. Your monthly support and yearly donations make all of the more that happens around here possible.

Notwithstanding that ongoing need for support, we entreat you to be receptive to the promptings of the Spirit, calling you to more, and calling you beyond the confines of your personal limitations. Each more is as varied as we are in His body, yet one calling is so definite, that we embark “further up, and further in” as Lewis put it. I wonder if there isn’t something that needs to be pulled down off that shelf of yours? A dream, a long-neglected calling or prodding of the Spirit, a gifting rarely used, maybe simply a conversation long overdue. Why not be courageous today? Why don’t we give Him something He’s been wanting from us for some time now? What’s the more you can give?
